Erwin-Tan.com Is Born!

Finally! The dreams of having my own personal blog really came true. A little something about myself. My name is Erwin Tan (as you can see it from the domain name).

I live in Singapore. A small country in the southern tip of Asia with the population of barely over 4 millions. Although Singapore may be small, but it’s growing proudly over the years. I first came in touch with internet back in 1997 during my high school days. I was fascinated with the informations and news I could find on the net.

I could still remember I was still using a slow Intel 486 processor PC back then. I was grateful that one fine day, my high school came out with a “Own a PC and connect to school server” scheme. Back then my school was considered technologically advanced for being the first neighbourhood school in the country to have it’s own server and linking most of the students from home. The 2nd thing that was grateful to happen was my aunt signed me up for the scheme and bought me a new PC! A brand new HP(Hewlett Packard) Pentium II Computer!!

Since then I never look back.. I spend quality time whenever I can, surfing my way through the internet for news and informations. Besides slogging through my studies, playing soccer after school and practicing my guitar, most of my time were spent on internet. I still can remember getting a hell loads of scolding for the hefty monthly bills (Dial-up sux!!)

10 years past and finally I have a chance to own my own domain on the net. Frankly speaking, it took alot out of me to setup this blog. I was really spending few years of my time exploring and surfing people’s blogs, informations and great stuffs online. People like you and me would rather save the time & hassle surfing & reading other people’s blogs than creating their own.
Isn’t it true?
Isn’t that what you are doing right now?

Hi Erwin,
I am from Singapore too! :)

I can sense that you really put in efforts and set up the blog.
Do you feel some sort of achievements?
I had that feeling when I first set up my blog!

Register domain, set up wordpress, FTP etc.
Feels wonderful when I know how to do it now when I knows nuts about them last time! Do you have that feelings too?

Great work! Keep blogging man!

Hey, read this from Sunday times today. “Hotel portal CEO always on lookout for start-up”. Inspiring as the CEO, Mr. Lee Lai Huat started his online biz……developing an online restaurant guide “Singapore Feasting” This, in turn, led to a business relationship with a resort, a connection that proved instrumental in setting up http://Www.Holidaycity.com in 1998. The website now offers reservations acess to 12,000 hotels and service apartments in 600 destinations. His goals is to have 50,000 hotels available on his site.

This is another area you can blog as these days more and more people are travelling with so many low cost carriers and cheap air fares. I am sure more budget travellers also need hotel booking online.

create your own market niche, by starting small ………and gradually reaching out to more and more online travellers. This sounds very interesting and viable biz proposal. everyone loves to travel. And with Air Tiger, Air Asia, coming so strong it is affaodable. It will generate more demands and prospects to relaunch online hotel booking Good luck.
